Generally in my comments here, the first line has the title(s) of the artwork. Since the GoComics Comment Policy (pointed to in the middle, at the start of the comments section) no longer allows URLs (links) of any kind in comments, what follows the title(s) directs you to the webpage that provides or accesses information about the artwork (if you want to read that; if you don’t, just ignore it) in the first paragraph and directions to the webpage with information about the artist in the second paragraph. If URLs were allowed, I would just post the URLs without directing the reader to them. I’ve been doing this since 2012; maybe you have only recently come across this strip (not in newspapers).

The primary webpage with information about this artwork is a Christie’s auction webpage, the last I know of to auction this artwork. Christie’s website is currently down due to a cyberattack (paste Christie’s hack in your browser address bar to read about it if you wish). But, it is still holding auctions, just not online. While the website is down, archived auction webpages, such as the one for this artwork, which was auctioned in 2021 (without access to the webpage, I can’t say if it sold), aren’t available.

Never heard of “Brave” before (I’m old). Guess I’ll add that to the search engine list. I didn’t deliberately leave it off.

    Bather

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Georges d’Espagnat" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found and once there find the text string 20656, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this large painting, except for currently any Christie’s website webpage. Christie’s website was hacked in the last week and is currently still down.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3323 (May 17, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with my comment pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 2 works by him have been used here, the May 14, 2024, strip being the prior.

Again, a larger strip image is also shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #2312 (10/22/19) (May 15, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3322 (May 15, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). The LOC Source has 2 color film copies and a b&w film copy as well as the original print. The colors aren’t the same in either color film copy or the original print. One color film copy is actually closer to the Other versions image of the print held by a museum. I’m not an art expert; whether what you find is typical for Cassatt I can’t say.
