He’d have to be one helluva lawyer to go up against Microsoft, Apple, Oracle or Adobe.

I’ve had a boss that refused to use the “preferred shipper” (UPS) campus website because she didn’t agree with terms and conditions. This required that I generate shipping forms the long way for returns and pay an inflated price each time with our payment card. There was also a problem with the concurrent licensing agreements with Adobe, so those needed to be cancelled.

Just proves that the software company has better lawyers. After all they are the ones that insisted on it.

You can turn off windows updates completely, or you can set it to download but only install when you tell it to after you have reviewed the updates to determine if you need them.

“I received a letter from the state that I must use their online portal to pay my sales, withholding, payroll and use taxes.”

When did you ever get to choose how the Gov wanted you to pay your Taxes? This is just the new way, and one that saves you money….processing paper forms is MUCH more expensive and since its your taxes that are paying for the process……

And if you don’t click either? No new download. But what if ‘disagree’? What then? Imagine, having sympathy for a lawyer.

I received a letter from the state that I must use their online portal to pay my sales, withholding, payroll and use taxes. The letter informed me that I MUST use this website. And then there was that infamous (agree) (Decline) choice after the End User License Agreement.. What the hey? I have no choice, either I agree or I close my business. Then I had to apply for permission and credentials to make bank transfers in order to use the website I was “required” to use. Only after remarking (complaining) to my accountant was I told that there was a new form to use. Two months and I still haven’t gotten my permission to use bank transfers. Stupid government.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And the noose tightens every day,

So I write the great American novel in MS-Word and Microsoft owns it as a “derivative work.”

I had Windows Update set to let me choose, but somewhere down the line the settings somehow got changed. Probably because of an update. :-\

I always wondered what it would feel like to buy a $400 software package from MS, then decline the T&C.

They should have “Agree,” “Disagree,” and “Agree but didn’t bother reading it.” Guess which button would get the most clicks, hands-down?
