Ah! The Fireman’s Annual Picnic. Back in the 1950s in SoCal, when I was a tween, I attended several with my folks, who were friends with a fireman. They would take over an entire park, barbecue beef quarters and tons of burgers and sides. They had a pony ride and fire trucks (vintage and modern) giving us rides, games and races. They even had an afternoon cartoon show host (I think it was Sheriff John or maybe Engineer Bill??) to entertain us kids. I LOVED those picnics.

No, no, no, they need to call them when they need help putting out the BBQ. Any competent arsonist could help them light it.
