Why do pundits treat President Biden with such disrespect? A new crisis lands on his plate about twice a week, and he has done remarkably well, considering all the push-back he gets from the insurrectionists. No president is infallible, but at least he is not repeating the corruption and dishonesty of the last guy who declared Putin is a “GENIUS!” yet half of the senate and a great number of pundits refused to call out the last guy as a CRIMINAL! (which he was, and is)
Biden calling for Putin’s removal was an enormous tactical mistake. Now, no Russian anywhere will dare oppose Putin for anything. With one comment, Biden has solidified all of Russia behind Putin. However strongly we oppose Putin’s war on Ukraine (and Crimea, and Georgia), saying this out loud publicly was one of the dumbest things possible. Britain’s approach was much better. Noting Putin’s earlier aggressions, Boris Johnson declared, “To try to re-normalize relations with Putin after this, as we did in 2014, would be to make exactly the same mistake again.” Much lower tone, much less aggressive. Yes, we want Putin gone, but this was completely counterproductive.
Biden not only meant it, he doubled-down the very next day. Biden has brought NATO back to be more unified than ever in it’s history, other countries joining, and returning the U.S. as Leader of the Free World. Our economy, while still in tRump’s recession, is stronger than any other country, in spite of world-wide inflation and oil prices. We have the lowest unemployment in our history, and he’s fighting inflation and gas prices by releasing reserves. The U.S. once again leads the New World Order.
Of course he meant it. Biden was merely saying what most of us already know. Meanwhile, those who accuse him of being soft on Putin are clutching their pearls and whining that he shouldn’t have said that. Make up your minds, people. You can’t have it both ways.
When President Ronald Reagan—not particularly known for his brilliance or command of the English language—cracked a joke on-air about outlawing the Soviet Union, adding that the US would begin the Russians in five minutes, the world’s two superpowers and others were shocked. The Soviets scrambled to emergency war-time footing. 30 minutes later, they cancelled the alert, but not before Moscow had made ready to respond to the US with a nuclear reply.

Now we have President Joe Biden—also well known for his own history of spouting idiotic burblings—warning in a speech to Polish officials in Warsaw that Vlad the Bad Putin would not be allowed to remain in power, invoking God to drive home the point.
NATO allies were shocked and dumbfounded, as the White House desperately moved to distance itself from so the Commander-in-Chief’s reckless, unscripted and dangerous babblings.
C’mon, Joe. Either speak understandably or start your own version of the Mr. Rogers Show..
“Over the past week, US President Joe Biden has made a series of unscripted remarks that have upped the temperature of US-Russia relations to near boiling point.
“However, his ad-libbed line at the end of what was billed as a ‘major speech’ Poland on Saturday – seemingly calling for President Vladimir Putin to be removed from power – may have landed the hardest.”
“In his speech to a crowd of assembled Polish government officials and dignitaries at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the US president once again warned that the world was in the midst of an era-defining conflict between democracies and autocracies.
“He pledged that NATO would defend ‘every inch’ of its member states’ soil. He also promised continued support to Ukraine, although he noted that the US military would not engage with Russian forces there.
“It was a confrontational, but measured, speech—well in line with what US officials, from Secretary of State Antony Blinken on down, have been saying for months.
“Then, right before the ‘thank yous’ and ‘goodbyes,’ Mr Biden added of his Russian counterpart: ‘For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.’”
“’The president’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region,’ a Biden administration official said on background. ‘He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change.’
“The speed with which the US issued its ‘clarification‘ later echoed by Mr. Blinken – suggests the US understands the danger inherent in Mr. Biden’s words.
“Earlier in the day, the US president had called Mr. Putin a ‘butcher.’ Last week, he seemed to get ahead of his own administration’s diplomatic process by accusing the Russian leader of war crimes. In both cases, Mr. Biden’s remarks prompted condemnations and warnings from Moscow that US-Russia diplomatic relations were being frayed to the point of breaking.
“There’s a line between condemning a nation’s leader—the sometimes overheated rhetoric of diplomacy—and calling for his removal. It was a line both the Americans and the Soviets respected even at the height of the Cold War. And it is a line that Mr. Biden had apparently crossed.”

Well, this is entirely out of line. Biden was right, Putin should be removed from power. And don’t put your beliefs in Uncle Sam’s mouth to try to rationalize them.
Unbelievable Mr. Breen! After all that we have endured with Trump’s “hyperbole” rhetoric (which I am aware that you did not agree with), you choose to skewer Biden with a heartfelt comment.
You hated how Obama hesitated while searching for just the right words (I saw those strips too) but NOW it’s okay to be angry when the POTUS speaks what the world feels?
I read through all of your justifications for this ridiculous strip and they don’t stand up. You are wrong, sir. The US doesn’t think that “for God’s sake, Biden should not remain in power”.
To all the people complaining that Mr. Benson is Pro-Putin and anti-Biden, please stop embarrassing him. His last anti-Putin comic was March 24, just two comics ago. Yes, he is middling comic with forgettable content that can only drum interest in his stuff in the comment section. But, that is no reason to rub it in. At least he takes and interest (as thin skinned as it is) in what we have to say.
What a ridiculous cartoon. Biden has led a highly effective campaign to unite NATO, crafted the strongest sanctions ever against Russia, and helped supply Ukraine with weapons it is using effectively against the butchers of Bucha. And he should “not remain in power” one because of that comment? Who would you want “in power”?

He meant it. But shouldn’t have said it publicly. Presidential words must be carefully measured before speaking, they have far ranging power.

So, a President speaks honestly and his critics clutch their pearls?
That scans…
Hell yes, Putin must be removed. The only questions are: how? & By whom?
Sad to say, there’s naught the USA can do about that, but we can certainly call for it.

Perhaps he should have added, for clarity, Putin’s removal from power needed to come from the Russian people.
