A home for the mentally ill, perhaps?

I’m very confused by this strip. Is rebuilding the house just a storyline? Or is it the entire story? Will this poor family never have a new home completed or are they doomed forever to be homeless? If it’s the latter, then it all seems a bit cruel.

Julia obviously did not inherit the “mania” gene, yet she seems to be alone in having the “intelligent practicality” gene ……….but from where?

It’s not fun being homeless, especially for a socially conscious teen.

Julia should at least try to have fun with the rest of the family, or try to get adopted by the neighbors.
