The whole tawdry arrangement with the National Enquirer, — the gutterball of “journalism” — is emblematic of everything about how Trump and lying Republicans operate in their alternate universe of what Trump’s top aide Kellyanne Conjob addmitted on air was “alternative ‘facts’.”

Any coverage in the mainstream corporate media unfavorable to Trump? “FAKE NEWS!” But have your own fake news like the National Enquirer, Faux “News,” NoiseMax, Alex Jones deliberately and KNOWINGLY run fake stories THEY KNOW ARE FALSE, as gets revealed later in court records such as the current Trump criminal trial or the defamation lawsuits that cost Faux “News” almost a billion dollars, Alex Jones $1.5 billion in total judgments and cases still pending against NoiseMax and OAN.

The former publisher of the National Enquirer was forced to admit in court that he made an overt deal to provide illegal unreported “in-kind” campaign contributions to act as the campaign’s “eyes and ears” and to rig coverage in Trump’s favor by KNOWINGLY planting FAKE STORIES about whichever candidate was the current threat.

When Ben Carson surged, he ran a completely FIB-ricated fake story about the brain surgeon leaving a sponge in a child’s brain that he knew was false. When Ted Cruz surged, he ran a completely fake story about Cruz’s father working with Lee Harvey Oswald that he knew was false. And then for the fall general election, he made up story after completely fake story concocting all kinds of bizarre lies about Hillary. All fake news that he knew were lies, planted in service for a political campaign. Plant fake stories. Suppress real stories. Nothing but lies and coverups.

It was just doubling down on what Republicans have been doing for the last 25 years…
