The way the SCOTUS seems to be swaying is for Trump to get his immunity for all his crimes. Why has no action been taken on Thomas taking bribes?

What would making a President immune from the law do to our country? One thing for sure, it would confer the powers of a king, or an emperor, or, an absolute dictator on the executive office. It would kill our democracy. A president is not a king. But it sure looks like SCOTUS is going to confer immunity on the orange scuzzbag.

I’m not counting on it. It’s clear after Thrusday’s argument’s that the so-called conservatives on SCOTUS are in Trump’s pocket and they were looking for a way to write their opinions to force the lower courts to give Trump all the delay he wants so that the federal legal system won’t actually try him for his alleged crimes. SCOTUS is openly now showing their contempt for the Constitution and the law, that they believe Trump is above the law. It’s disgusting. To preserve the Constitution, the country now absolutely needs a large Democratic party majority in both the House and Senate as well as the presidency to keep this ridiculous set of jurists in check.

Not as long as the SCOTUS right-wingers hold sway. Looks like 5 of the 6 of them, led by Alito and Kavanaugh, are going to throw more sand in the grinding wheels of justice regarding Trump’s total and absolute immunity case. They are poised to send the case back to lower court to find out if Trump’s J6 insurrection instigation (still, amazingly, an “alleged” action) was for personal gain or not, i.e., “official or private.” The metaphor of “blind justice” seems to apply to the right-wing “judiciary” — with a heavy accent on the “blind” part and all but completely innocent of the influence of the “justice” part.

The integrity of this court has been compromised. Some justices misrepresented their views on Roe v. Wade during confirmation, and we have Thomas and Alito, who appear to be influenced by wealthy interests. Additionally, Thomas’s wife was involved in the insurrection. When critics argue that there’s a two-tiered justice system, they are correct, albeit not in the manner they might think.”

The SC justices are projecting. Only Insurrectionist 45 mentions taking authoritarian measures up to and including assassination for political purposes, other presidents somehow had the self-restraint to not do so.

Trump has already won his case.

Allow me to clarify. The focus was never on the asinine legal theories that Trump and his lawyers had presented for months; it was always about the strategic delay. The aim was to postpone any significant trial until after the election, enabling him to secure a victory and potentially evade legal consequences. Now, the SCOTUS is set to refer the matter back to the Federal Courts for further clarification. This sequence of events implies that Trump’s trial will take place well after the election.

Therefore, the power to keep Trump from a second term lies in the hands of sane Americans, as it always has. Two years ago, Trump was at 46% (his core). Last year, Trump was at 46%. And a week ago, Trump is at 46%. He is locked in and can’t move beyond the ceiling of his cult of voters. While Biden, and the potential for change, is free to continue to improve his standing. Keeping Trump from a second term is in our hands. When, not if we mobilize and turn out the vote, Trump will lose. Remember what is at stake:

    Women’s reproductive rights

Fixing Immigration, not building concentration camps like Trump wants to do

Protecting Social Security, not ending it like Trump wants to do

Protecting democracy, not ending it like Trump said he would

Protecting the Country from Terrorism, not letting Trump appoint people who don’t know what they are doing

Protecting the best jobs market & economy in years

A President who is kind, and we can be proud of

As I said. The 2024 election is in our hands, and democracy is at stake.

WARNING: projectile vomiting may be induced by reading the following:

Google: trump supreme court immunity case

Google: Takeaways from the Supreme Court arguments on Trump’s absolute immunity claims

“After nearly three hours of oral arguments, several of the justices seemed willing to embrace a result that could jeopardize the ability to hold a trial before the November election.”

“The former president, who lamented not attending arguments in Washington as he is on trial in New York in a separate criminal trial, in which he has pleaded not guilty, was represented by attorney John Sauer.”

“Central to Thursday’s arguments was what would qualify as an “official” act of the presidency that may be protected by a finding of immunity versus what constitutes private conduct."

I felt like Alice falling down the rabbit hole while listening to the oral arguments given by tRumps attorneys. Their arguments of what constituted official duties and how he couldn’t be tried twice for the same crimes because he’s had already been tried once (the second impeachment) by the Senate, were so convoluted and absolutely insane and yet the Supremes treated their arguments as reasonable. I suggest that since Congress refuses to do anything about them, we just ignore anything the Supremes say or do and go on with the business of governing without them until the fascists and theocrats among them die off. Vote Blue

Presidents can’t have immunity from crimes they commit.

Presidential Immunity has always only been intended for war time decisions and decisions used in the USA’s defense. Decisions that can be wrong, due to intelligence of the time and such.

It certainly was never intended to allow a President to go on a crime spree. Especially, one that evidence points at Traitor Trump selling intelligence to America’s enemies. That would be insane and turn the USA into the Banana Republic. Of course that is exactly what the Republicans are trying to establish.

Stop the madness! Vote Democratic up and down the ticket. Rinse, repeat for as long as necessary.

We’ll know more (to what extent the 6 USSC righties, and particularly the behind-the-scenes GOP shot caller Federalist Society, decides about the extent of US law Presidents present and past are obliged to comply with) sometime near Independence Day 2024.

WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) – The Supreme Court’s conservative justices signaled support on Thursday for U.S. presidents having some level of protection from criminal charges for certain acts taken in office as it tackled Donald Trump’s claim of immunity from prosecution for trying to undo his 2020 election loss.

Make no mistake, if the Corrupt 6 give the Orange Fuhrer any immunity, there will be no Democratic Party nominee in 2028. Just like every other 3rd world s-hole country where the opposition gets eliminated or jailed, they’ll announce their candidacy then vanish within the week. That’s why his lawyers keep bringing up eliminating his rivals. Because they’re going to if it’s made legal. The fact that the Founders overthrew a king and a tyrant so drafted the Constitution to prevent that from happening again doesn’t seem to matter at all to the Corrupt 6. Hope everyone who stayed home in 2016 because of the emails is happy now. But you don’t get to say your life never meant anything. You got to directly contribute to the end of Democracy. And that goes for everyone who doesn’t vote for Biden in Nov. too.
