Yup, that’s why you always bring your dumb friend along when you want to impress people.

Just make sure you have spares, because while he may remain dumb, he won’t be your friend afterwards.

Strawman — the faithful ally of Republicans, who utilize him to distort or deflect any issue.

As in this venue, when employed in argument, it is always out of its field — just as its employer is.

Another popular MAGAT technique is to use Whataboutism but I will admit we can get away with things they can’t. There isn’t anything nefarious about it though. It is just that we are liberal elites and they are brain dead MAGAT trash.

Not enough time to list the instances today but as I recall President Obama was the king of “Strawman” usage.

I’ve had great discussions with people who believe differently than I do on guns, abortion, the economy and the role of government. What you should never do is get into a discussion with a MAGAT.

You can’t drop enough IQ points to have a “dialogue” with someone stupid, lazy and-or biased enough to think an easy to spot liar, grifter, coward, fraud and corrupt, unfit, incompetent Russian dupe is a real person with “beliefs”, “policies” or an “agenda” other than to get himself money and attention. His worldview doesn’t extend past his mirror.

MAGATs are also looking for someone to validate their pathetic existence and you shouldn’t do it. The Grifter in Chief is contemptible and they are beneath contempt. They don’t deserve the dignity of an acknowledgement.

While comics and even the Reality Show Con Artist himself laugh at them, I find no humor, only horror. As Diedrich Bonhoeffer lays out in his Theory of Stupidity, they are dangerous to our health, society and world.

I learned this in college English 101. A straw man argument is a logical fallacy where one misrepresents an opponent’s argument to make it easier to attack, typically by oversimplifying, exaggerating, or distorting it, and then refuting this weaker version rather than engaging with the actual argument presented.

The GOPs current “straw man” is immigration. They have rejected a long-sought, well thought out immigration plan because Trump. They want to campaign “against” immigration policy and did not want someone else to solve the problem.
