Markets crave stability. They want certainty that investments won’t be reneged on. Now, which political party plays politics with paying debts already accrued?

Aug 2 (Reuters) – “Rating agency Fitch on Tuesday downgraded the U.S. government’s top credit rating…Fitch said repeated political standoffs (instigated by Republicans) and last-minute resolutions over the debt limit have eroded confidence in fiscal management.”

    Crumbling State Republican Parties

July 24 (National Review) – Republican parties in Arizona, Minnesota, and Michigan, among others, are running out or out of money because of poor management. “When a political party adopts a mindset that prioritizes loyalty to a particular figure — in this case, Donald Trump — over all other traits, eventually it tends to run low on those other traits. We see the consequences of this mentality in the condition of several state Republican parties.”

The constant grandstanding and attention-seeking by Republicans may make good television for the Magas, but it hamstrings the ability to govern on essential issues. The sad truth is, once upon a time, Republicans could govern. They were considered partners in good government. Not anymore. Until the Republicans purge themselves of the Maga element, the once proud party of Lincoln will continue to atrophy and eventually cease to exist.

The primary reason it was downgraded was the republican threats defund the debt.

Another corporate cartoon…now whom do you think would be the target for balancing the budget? the poor and middle class that Reaganomics has added taxes…or the corporations and the rich that Reaganomics has cut taxes and give more welfare, causing the deficits?

New factories are being built across the US, and economists are giving President Biden a sizable chunk of the credit thanks to recent laws encouraging new infrastructure, clean energy, and semiconductors. As to the debt, Geo W. and his phony war and Trump/McConnell massive tax cut to the suffering 1%. /S

Gosh.. wonder why the credit rating was downgraded? Surely it’s not because of republican games regarding the debt limit.

The House raised the debt ceiling three times in four years during TFG’s administration without a whimper. They gutted the country’s income by giving massive tax cuts and breaks to the upper 1%. Then they come after the social services and safety net for the poorest and elderly because the wealthy aren’t paying enough. Taxes need to be raised on the 1% who can afford it the most. Biden has already reduced the debt by over a trillion dollars because of his policies anyway. The GQP refuses to give him credit for it.

    What should we do?

Eliminate any Congressman who holds the budget hostage for their own personal benefit. Require that a budget MUST be negotiated in a timely manner and before Congress is allowed to recess. Vote for people who understand the difference between a household budget, a business budget, a state budget and the federal budget. Vote for people who understand that in order to increase revenue we must increase taxes.

It is simple, I have two credit cards, and I don’t run more than $400 hundred on either, but I could run it up to over $12,000, what would happen to my credit score if I did that? I would loose like 50 points.

‘Everything will get worse’: Former Republican predicts dire future for GOP

MSNBC’s Charlie Sykes said the Republican Party is on a downward slide, and he said conservatives were willing to follow Donald Trump all the way to rock bottom. The former Republican said party leaders were unprepared for Trump in 2016 and still haven’t figured out how to stop him from further corrupting political norms, and Sykes told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said it would be nearly impossible to repair the damage.

In spite of Biden having paid down our debt twice so far, while tRump never did, and Obama paid it down before him, the Republican refusal to compromise brought Fitch to lower the credit rating. Biden should go “full speed ahead”, having already setting records for low unemployment, highest working, record new jobs created, record new manufacturing, and now wages outpacing the world-wide inflation that Biden’s policies has slowed. Keep it going.

Biden – The world’s biggest liar. Time after time, he states that on his watch, spending was reduced by 1 1/2 trillion or so. He got 4 Pinocchio’s for that because the spending that was reduced was covid spending that was scheduled to finish, whether or not he did anything. In addition, he claimed, and once again, received 4 Pinocchio’s, for stating he added millions of jobs. He didn’t. People who were laid off during covid were being brought back, thanks to Trump and his team for getting the vaccine to market in record time. So, no reduction in spending and no new jobs. All smoke and mirrors from Mr. 10%.

Joe Biden, having just returned to the White House from an 11-day midsummer’s respite, just logged his 366th day of vacation. Yep, you read that right: He’s been in office just over two and a half years, and he’s already taken more than a year’s worth of vacation, 39%.

Gary, the reason Moody’s lowered the US’s credit rating from AAA to AA+ (which is still really really good) is because of the GOP Majority in the House (and Minority in the Senate) playing chicken with the debt ceiling (over money the US already spent). With the economy finally gaining a firm footing, we need to keep fixing the damage that Trump and Covid did to it. So, in 2024 (hopefully), we can keep the White House, widen our Senate majority and win back the House and keep moving the economy forward in a way that works for everyday Americans. Vote blue no matter who!
